The History of Clifford the Big Red Dog

Clifford the Big Red Dog has long been a “big” favorite of schoolchildren everywhere. It is the story of an enormous canine, his loving owner, Emily Elizabeth, and his two puppy friends: Theo and T-Bone. Best known as a long-running Childrens Book series created by Norman Bridwell, Clifford got his own Kids Show on PBS Kids in 2000. The tale goes that Clifford was the runt of the litter and was chosen by a city child named Emily Elizabeth as her birthday gift. No one expected Clifford to grow, but Emily Elizabeth's love for her tiny red puppy changed Clifford dramatically. Before long, he was over 25 feet tall. Clifford The Big Red Dog was one of many PBS Kids Shows designed to teach children life lessons while entertaining them. The late John Ritter voiced Clifford in all episodes.
