Easily the most popular Children’s Television Show of the Baby Boomer era, Howdy Doody captured the hearts of America’s youth thanks to a friendly wooden puppet with red hair, freckles and a permanent smile. Children loved the characters of Doodyville because they were a diverse collection of U.S. icons. Howdy Doody was an all-American boy whose face symbolized the new face of color TV. The Howdy Doody Show was incredibly successful and was NBC's first daily show to be extended to five days a week.
