Tom Selleck made crime fighting look so good in the 1980s Television series Magnum, P.I. Capturing the flashy bravado and overindulgence of the decade, Magnum, P.I. was an immediate hit for CBS, becoming one of the highest-rated shows in the country. Selleck, boasting his signature thick moustache and aviator shades, starred as Thomas Magnum, a private investigator on the island of Oahu in Hawaii that kept finding himself in harm’s way. Two of the shows biggest draws were its cool cars and beautiful women. Magnum, P.I. ran for an impressive nine seasons and consistently ranked in the Top 20 of the most watched TV shows.
