The History of Stargate Universe
In Stargate Universe, a multi-national exploration team from Earth is trapped aboard a spaceship traveling through a distant region of the universe with virtually no hope of ever returning home. The team is led by Commander Nicholas Rush. The team is unable to return to Earth after an evacuation to the ancient Spaceship Destiny which is traveling in a distant corner of the universe. Stargate fans refer to Stargate Universe as SGU. The series is part of the MGM Stargate franchise which includes five motion pictures, four TV shows and an animated series. The producers of Stargate Universe recently announced that the Spring 2011 season would be their last.
