The History of Sun Records
Sun Records is where Rock-and-Roll was born. The now world-famous recording label is an icon in the history of American pop music. It was Sun Records that introduced Elvis Presley to America and the rest of the world in 1954 with the release of Presley’s first hit song: That's All Right Mama. Elvis went on to become the King of Rock and Roll thanks in part to Sun Studios. Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, Sun Records and its founder Sam Phillips had a keen sense for cutting edge music of the day. Not afraid to cross racial or cultural boundaries, Phillips gathered sounds from every corner of the diverse Memphis musical landscape and churned out hit records that would come to define the genres of rock-and-roll and country music. Sun Records artists include superstars such as Roy Orbison, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Howlin Wolf, and many other vintage Rock-and-Roll legends!
Our Sun Records T Shirts are of the highest quality, with a retro-look displaying the historic Sun logo.
