The revolutionary NBC police drama, Adam-12, first aired in 1968. Created by the man behind Dragnet, Jack Webb, Adam-12 followed the lives of two uniformed officers—Reed and Malloy—as they trolled the mean streets of Los Angeles in their patrol unit, 1-Adam-12. The NBC cop show attempted to give audiences an ultra-realistic look at the everyday life of an officer. Stars Kent McCord and Martin Milner, aka Reed and Malloy, followed actual law enforcement procedures during shooting. Episodes of Adam-12 have even been used for training purposes at police academies.
