The History of the Munsters
The first family of fright, The Munsters TV Series started scaring up an audience when it first debuted on NBC in 1964. The memorable CBS Sitcom revolved around The Munsters, a family of monsters trying their hardest to lead a normal, blue-collar life. This TV Comedy Series, shot completely in Black and White, was a satire of traditional monster flicks and popular family shows of the era, like Leave It to Beaver. The Munsters is best remembered for its colorful cast of characters, including Herman, Eddie, Grandpa and Spot. The costumes of the family members in The Munsters were based on the classic monsters of Universal Studios’ films from the 30s and 40s, including their traditional view of Frankenstein for Herman.
