If one television show defines the 1980s, it is Miami Vice. More action flick than TV Crime Drama, Miami Vice packed a punch like no show before it, integrating music and visual effects to tell its stories. Starring Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as Crockett and Tubbs, the stylishly-shot NBC Series told the tale of two detectives fighting crime undercover in America’s most overindulgent—and most dangerous—city: Miami, Florida. In a way like no TV Cop Show had done before, Miami Vice reflected the culture and attitude of the era. It ran for five seasons from 1984 to 1989, crashing down from its wild success like so many of the characters featured on the show.
