The History of Punky Brewster
With her patented pigtails and freckles, the adorable Punky Brewster endeared herself to thousands of TV fans in the mid-1980s. One of the best remembered 80s Sitcoms, Punky Brewster starred Soleil Moon Frye as a funny and bright young girl being raised by a foster family after she is abandoned by her mother and father. No matter what challenged she faced, Punky always had her faithful dog Brandon. Punky Brewster, which aired on NBC for two seasons before going to first-run syndication, was a Sunday staple for preteens everywhere. The 1980s Television show also spawned an animated series: It’s Punky Brewster.
